Spring update, Desert Climbing in Utah!

My winter job finished up giving me some time off... time to go climbing!  While the ice has been melting up here in Montana and mud season is beginning to set in, down in Southern Utah the weather is perfect for some desert climbing.  Along with two of my co-workers from Montana, we set out on a road trip to Utah and met up with fellow EGG Keith.  We started the trip with a few days of sport climbing to get warmed up for the longer climbs in southern Utah.

Waste Vegetable Oil Processing Shed

Hello everyone. I thought I'd brag today about the massive amounts of Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) that we have stockpiled in the new WVO processing shed that we built at the new shop. It's going to be pretty sweet to have a dedicated place to process our fuel for the shuttles this summer — and it's especially cool that we have a place this time that is big enough for us to actually stand up in while we work.

Snowpocalypse 2012

Well, it's been a pretty epic snow year up here. We dug out our new shuttle "Bumbles" over the last few days, with the help of a bobcat and a couple bodies full of sore muscles and some good ol' shoveling skills. Check out these photos. Good for skiing, not awesome for vehicles.

New EGG Office Layouts

We're coming right along with our office construction, so at this point, I thought that I'd share with you some of the digital layouts of roughly what the office will look like after we're done.

Television spot on Exit Glacier Guides

This video was shot this fall by Daniel Monskey for the television show Life To The Max. It's pretty awesome, it's in HD, and it's focused on our sweet helicopter climbing tours. Special thanks to Julian (Mr. Pants), and Vanessa fo their help and excellent work while filming this.

Customer Ice Climbing Video

I just found this GoPro (edit: the video was shot on the Contour HD) video on YouTube that was posted by one of our customers that took an ice climb with us on Exit Glacier this summer. Thanks to Mark Laws for posting this up for everyone to see, and to Julian for being an awesome climbing instructor. The video get's really cool at 2:30.

A winter update from the Canadian Rockies

Just returned from a six day trip to the Canadian Rockies for some waterfall ice climbing.  Probably one of the best climbing trips I have ever done, as the routes were spectacular and the conditions were perfect.  While I was there, along with my housemate from Montana, we enjoyed sunny, warm days without wind and at night were lucky to have a bright moon reflecting light off of the pristine snow.  One really couldn't have asked for more.

We've finished framing in the new shop!

After a couple of long days, we've finished faming our new shop. We also learned how to do some serious replumbing of water mains (way to go Fisher, booyah!) and started wiring the shop's electrical outlets.

Many thanks to Alan for the use of his framing nailgun and compressor. Without those, this project would have been daunting — at best - but with them, framing the basement was breezy.

Construction begins on the new shop!

Welcome to 2012, everyone! So, after a month of settling in and getting some early-season ski bugs out of the system, we have started construction on the new shop. The pictures in this post are all pre-remodeling (fairly obvious, I suppose). I'll be posting more photos as progress continues.

We're Moving!

Well, after seven grand years operating out of our historic train car location, Exit Glacier Guides' now has digs of our own! We closed last week on a home/office on the edge of downtown Seward, on the Fourth Ave. main drag. Exciting news, right?
