Resurrection Bay Paddle
"The kayak day begins at 8am at Kayak Adventures Worldwide office in downtown Seward. We'll paddle the western coastline of Resurrection Bay with the option of entering Tonsina Creek if the tide permits. We'll stop at Waterfall Beach to stretch our legs with a 5 minute walk to an incredible 80' waterfall. We'll paddle to Caines Head for lunch and hot drinks. If time allows we can hike a bit on Caines Head's great trails. We'll paddle back to Lowell Point for a 4pm pick up."
Aialik Bay Day Trip
"If you're short on time, but want a taste of the pristine Alaskan fjords - this is the perfect trip for you! Meet at our office at 7:15am, and we'll get you to the water taxi by 8am. You'll have about 2+ hours on the boat ride out to Aialik Bay, and often we'll encounter whales, sea lions, mountain goats, sea otters, and other wildlife on the way. Better than a large tour boat ride, the water taxi we use is small and provides an intimate experience with your guide and the captain. Learn all about the area, the wildlife you see, and hear great Alaskan stories while you pass the day with people filled with local knowledge and experience. "
Once in the fjords, you'll spend the day paddling to Aialik Glacier. Aialik is a very actively calving tidewater glacier, and often massive chunks of ice will plummet into the sea below. Harbor seals curiously poke their heads through the floating ice chunks to watch you paddle by, and often black bears wander the beaches and hillsides nearby. What a perfect way to experience the massive glacial ice and the soaring mountains of the fjords... from the seat of a kayak!
You'll stop at a small beach near the glacier, and we'll serve lunch and hot drinks before either heading back out on the water or, if time allows, doing a short hike. The walk is pretty easy, over rocky terrain, and brings you to the top of a hill that provides a sweeping view across the face of Aialik Glacier... a wonderful spot to view calving from!"
These are several of Seward's best guided trips at a great discount. For the active and adventurous traveler, this is a great way to get the most out of the outdoors in the short span of two days. Call either of our companies for more details on this trip and for information on how to book this package.
