Our 3 day Mountaineering and Pristine Summits Course is perfect for adventurers looking to learn new mountaineering skills and apply those skills to climbing a glaciated peak on the Kenai Peninsula

Mountaineering and Pristine Summits Course - 3 Day

This course caters to people with a previous outdoor experience, but climbing or mountaineering experience is not required.  With 3 days, we will spend the day one and two learning mountaineering skills such as roped team travel, snow and ice anchors, self-arrest, and basic belaying/rappelling technique.

The third day will be a summit attempt on a local glaciated peak.  There are many options for mountains to climb and we can customize the trip for whatever your group would like.  There is also the potential to complete a first ascent of a mountain on this course!

Day one of this course is conducted at the Exit Glacier.  This allows us to walk to the glacier and have plenty of time on the ice working on learning and practicing our skills.  We’ll likely even get in some ice climbing!  The second day will take us on a helicopter flight to access some higher elevation terrain. We’ll spend the second day furthering our mountaineering knowledge and then set up camp in the mountains for the night.  After a delicious meal cooked by your guide we’ll get into the tents early for a good night’s sleep.  On the third day we’ll get up early and utilize our newly learned skills to make a summit attempt on a local glaciated peak!  After a hopefully successful summit push, we’ll return to camp and catch our helicopter flight back to Seward.

With the almost unlimited mountains surrounding Seward, we can tailor this trip to each individual group.  Whether you would like an moderate climb or a challenging one, we can make it happen! There are several different areas right outside of Seward that we can access for this trip.  The Mountaineering and Pristine Summits Course has a small client to guide ratio of 3:1, and all participants will have plenty of time with personalize instruction.  Lastly, our guides are the most experienced in the region, with numerous first ascents and climbs on glaciated peaks throughout the Chugach Mountains, Alaska Range, the Cascades, New Zealand, and South America.
